2012 Poster Italia 03

Today 2012 arrives in nearly 550 screens: it’’s the new film by Roland Emmerich who, after the excursion into the past with 10,000 BC, €5 Million last year, returns to the disaster-futuristic film genre of which he marked key stages in the 90s with Stargate and Independence Day, and took over with profit in 2004 with The Day After (10 million). From 2012 we expect a weekend of about 4 million.

350 screens for Almodovar’s Los Abrazos Rotos: the director returns after the excellent result of Volver, 7 million. For a strange coincidence of fate, again a Sony blockbuster will be released concurrently with Almodovar, offering a good alternative for the schedule. In 2006 it was The Da Vinci Code, this time it will be 2012. The over-60 Spanish director, Oscar for Parla con Lei, director of reference for quality cinema, can  aim to the female audience to secure a 1 million weekend and lay the basis for a result to be developed over time.

Little chance for Beyond a Reasonable Doubt: the noir with Michael Douglas, that had very little luck abroad, is likely to shatter against 2012 and not exceed €500,000 despite the 200 screens in which it will be played.

Public Enemy closed the week at 2.8 million, The Man Who Stare at goats at 1.6 million. Up has exceeded 14 million and for the weekend aims at 15.

These are our predictions:

1. 2012 – 4 M

2. Public Enemy – 1,4 M

3. Los Abrazos Rotos – 1,1 M
